How to Secure your Computer from Identity Theft

Identity thieves are those people or hackers that usually hack accounts, personal online identities of the victims from the hardware like hard drives or memory cards etc.

They can use various techniques to gain access to the credentials and then afterward access them to steal the accounts. This could include your credit/debit card information, online money bank account information etc. As these hackers or the black hat hackers use some techniques to steal the accounts, therefore, there can be safety measures that users can apply to their hardware and software so as to prevent these attacks. Below are some tips to prevtnt hese kind of attacks.

1) Hard Drive/Folder Encryption
There is one method that is highly used in various deployments of the digital world when there comes the case of protection or securing the personal data or the important data and that is the password protection. By using the passwords, one can easily encrypt folders or the whole hard drive so that no one else could access the data inside them. Hence it becomes difficult to get any information out of them. If in case anyone steals your hard drive, then you can feel safe when it comes to your data as there will be password requirement to gain access to it, therefore you can remain sure that your account data if any present inside it is not available to the thief.

2) Browser Changes
Most of the browsers used to save the passwords for your accounts if you have not disabled it, so you should disable it so that it does not store the details of the accounts. You should also use browsers in incognito mode so that there is no cache saved for your accounts or other visited important sites.

3) Antivirus Programs
You should run the antivirus programs such as Microsoft Security Essentials or MalwareBytes from Microsoft so that they can continuously scan for any malware etc.

4) Use Firewall
Firewall basically blocks unauthorized access to the computer while allowing you access to the web. Firewall feature comes inbuilt on Windows computers. However, you need to make sure that you have enabled the firewall feature by going through the Control Panel.

5) Install Windows Updates
We all know that Microsoft frequently pushes updates. These updates usually contain fixes or patches. These updates are very important because it fixes any security holes that may be present in the Windows operating system. Enabling the Automatic Updates will make sure that your system is up to date and all the latest bug fixes and patches are installed.
