Apple could be unable to recover data from its new MacBook Pro Touch Bar laptops if they fail.
The issue was reported by the Apple-focused website MacRumors.com, which noted how a design change in the 2018 model made the tech giant's special data recovery tool become unusable.
Although the issue does not make 2018 models more likely to lose data, owners may have to use specialist data recovery companies to get their data back in the event of a data loss.
Previous models have used a special port which connects directly to the internal logic board, where the computer's circuits are housed.
However, the data recovery connector has been removed from the new Touch Bar models, meaning that this tool cannot be used if the logic board fails.
